Looking Back At Your Preliminary Task (The College Magazine Task), What Do You Feel You Have Learnt In The Progression From It To Full Product?

Since I made my college magazine for my preliminary task, my skills and understanding of Photoshop have progressed greatly. I now understand more about the layers and when making my final product I used this greater understanding when adding text layers and pictures, to create better effects. Another skill I have progressed from the preliminary task to the final product is I can use the magic wand/edge seeker tool better, as I can now use it to get a more life like edge rather than an edge that you can see has been edited. This helped a lot when making my final magazine as I wanted to take away the background behind the main image to create a new background which had more texture and a better effect to the front cover of the magazine. By getting better at this skill I managed to cut out the image of the model and place her onto the new background without being able to tell I have done this. By progessing my understanding and skills in photoshop I learnt how to use space reduction between the lines of text in my interview, so that I could fit more writing on the page, and make it smaller and closer together like most interviews are in real magazines. To keep the columns of text the same width I used the ruler tool, by doing this I created guide lines for my text to keep every column of text the same width, making it look better and more proffesional.

Whilst adding all the texts and images to my magazine I had to think about how they would appeal to my audience. I used large and bold fonts so that they were easy to read and stand out, to attract my audience. I also looked at other magazines and the fonts and layouts they had used to inspire me when choosing mine, most of the magazines I looked had used bold fonts that were east to read and stood out on the page. Also I stuck to a three colour, colour scheme in order to keep my magazine simple, but I also used contrasting colours so they all stood out against eachother. I think that keeping the colour scheme simple would attract my audience as they would prefer simple things that are easier to read than, something that is full of lots of colours and is very busy as this may be quite off putting.
