The technologies I have used in this project are: Photoshop, Flikr, Blogger, a Digital SLR Camera and I also used Youtube to help me with some difficulties I had whilst using Photoshop.
Doing the tasks before we actually started making the real project helped me a lot with my Photoshop skills, for example how the layers have to be in the right order for things to work. It helped me to cut out backgrounds with a less defined edge so the new image didn't look too edited.
Using Youtube I watched tutorials on how to airbrush, and tan my photo's so they had a better finish on them and to make the product more professional.
Using Flikr to analyse images was much easier than writing long blog posts as it was much quicker and easier to show which part of the image I was talking about with the tagging. But it was quite awkward to use on the college network as I could only upload images on the Internet Explorer internet page and I could only save my annotation notes on the Mozilla Firefox internet page, this made it very awkward as I had to keep flicking between the two internet pages to do one task. Using Blogger and Flikr together was also helpful as I can easily link my images from my Flikr account to my Blogger account without having to do two different analyses, and it was very easy to do.
Also when taking photo's I was thinking about the backgrounds and the shot angles and lengths. For my front cover I wanted a plain white background so there was nothing to distract the readers eye from the main image and the cover lines, but just plain white did look quite plain and I notice that on some magazines like Q and vibe had grey backgrounds or other colours. So using the lighting effects I created a grey background that acted as a spotlight behind the main image, making the background a bit more interesting and seeming as if the spotlight was on the main image, as the double page spread is on the person in that image so she is the most important thing on the front cover of that issue. I took some photo's outside for the contents page to add some variation to the images, I also added an image I had taken whilst at an Ellie Goulding gig to make the magazine seem more 'real' and to appeal to my audience with a live image.
